Who has eaten at Garagiste? Notice the wonderfully tactile pottery you ate off? It’s the work of Tasmania’s Ben Richardson who lives and works from South Arm near Hobart. Ben sources local clays and scours Tasmania for natural materials to use as glazes, firing his works in wood fired kilns.

I’ve photographed Ben’s works holding Luke Burgess’ food on several occasions, but in the photos here, the plates are nursing the food of New York’s Marco Canora, who was cooking at Garagiste for Savour Tasmania in 2011. The images are now about to be published in an international ceramics magazine. Top marks Ben!

And I’ll be photographing Savour Tasmania once more, at Garagiste once more and will, no doubt, be focusing on Ben Richardson’s wonderful pottery again. Can’t wait.
